Tween

I was reading this parent magazine the other day, and an article talked about girls ages 10-12 are called "tweens" I think it's funny. Our society is putting labels on everything and everyone. The article was interesting, it basically talked about how children now a days are much more informed, and mentally more mature than back in the day, how this can be a positive thing, and a negative one. I started to think about the phrase "back in the day" 11-12 years ago, I was a tween, and even then compared to girls now, our minds are not the same. Society has changed so much. Look at MTV, videos they play now, never would of been played 12 years ago. Technology has grown, I always thought it was a positive thing, but I can't help and wonder if technology has changed what our morals are. Internet access is amazing, not sure what I would do without it now, but so many people/kids use Internet for negative things. Are we giving to much access to our children before they are ready? I'm thankful our 12 year old is not on the level as some in the article I read. I worry with junior high fast approaching it's going to be a shock for her (and us) with the level most of those 12-13 year olds are on. Why can't kids be kept in bubbles again??? LOL
