Board Memeber

During new condo board elections I decided to go for it. For the past 3 years I sit and complain at how our building is running, and allow myself to get so annoyed by things, that I knew I needed to either join or shut up.

Snow removal at our building is very difficult. Our parking lot is designed to fit as many cars as possible, keep in mind it's not a huge space. This being said, when it snow oh I don't know 7-10 inches we need people to move the cars out so the plow can make it nice and clean. Does this happen, nope, unfortuntaely our building is filled with 40% of renters. They don't care. So last night a sign was posted in the lobby, and doors, letting everyone know all cars must be moved out by 9:00 this morning. The plow was coming back. At 9:15 while making breakfast I hear banging on a door. The president was literally banging on doors of people who did not move. Of course all were renters. A few of them on my floor ignored the banging. If they didn't move there would be no way the plow could fit in the back. I started laughing because she wouldn't give up, she came back every 5 minutes banging, until they moved. This was the first time ever I've seen her make an effort. I was so happy. This is also the first time our parking lot is nice and clean in years.

We also are finally getting new laundry machines. This should put an end to them breaking, leaking, and not drying clothes. All I want is to wash/dry my clothes without getting frustrated that one of the machines is broken, or to find out the dryer didn't actually dry my clothes but just eat my money! We also had the laundry room painted, and cleaned up. Should be done in a day or so. Can't wait.

Our building was built in the 1970's, and not much as been done to maintain it. This year we all agreed we would make several efforts in approvements. Which will only help in resale value. Yes we don't plan on staying here much longer, but not because we don't love our area, and place, I do, it's just space, we need more, soooo much more. I want to stay in our area so badly, maybe real estate prices will calm down, so we can. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

*sorry about the spelling, I need spellcheck and it's still not working!
